International Women's Day Packing Event

Helping Hands Designs participated in this packing event at Direct Relief's headquarters. HHD had the opportunity to hear from speakers Dr. Ayesha Shaikh, an obstetrician and gynecologist, and from Dr. Steve Arrowsmith, a urologist who has performed numerous fistula repair surgeries. 

​

HHD helped assemble 1,000 Dignity Kits for women in East Africa and Asia awaiting obstetric fistula surgery. These kits include daily essentials that many women in less-developed countries to not have direct access to, such as towels, toothbrushes, and antibacterial soaps.

Celebrity Author's Luncheon 2018

Helping Hands Designs sold CALM necklaces at the Celebrity Author's Luncheon along with renowned authors who helped raise funds and spread awareness for CALM's work. 

 

At this event HHD raised $320 for CALM.

What these donations mean:

$250 grants child abuse prevention classes for one school.

$100 provides one hour of therapy for a child.

$50 supports two group sessions for mothers with PPD.

CALM Open House Fundraiser

Helping Hands Designs sold CALM necklaces at CALM's Open House at their Santa Barbara office to raise funds for and promote awareness about child abuse prevention within the community.

 

At this event HHD raised $100 for CALM.

What these donations mean:

$100 provides one hour of therapy for a child.

$50 supports two group sessions for mothers with PPD.

CALM At Heart Fundraiser​

Helping Hands Designs sold CALM necklaces at the CALM At Heart Event at the Coral Casino Santa Barbara to support the advances of mental wellness interventions and education in Santa Barbara schools, as well as CALM's work to heal children and build resilient families in the community.

​

At this event HHD raised $525 for CALM.

What these donations mean:

$500 provides the enrollment for one adult in a 10-week parenting class.

$250 grants child abuse prevention classes for one school.

$100 provides one hour of therapy for a child.

$50 supports two group sessions for mothers with PPD.

Women's Philanthropy Luncheon Fundraiser

Helping Hands Designs sold Hamsa necklaces and Turquoise Hamsa Bracelets at the 2019 Women's Philanthropy Luncheon to promote the Jewish Federation's many causes dedicated to Jewish family service, beneficiaries, and projects in Israel and overseas. HHD focused this fundraiser for the Defibrillator Project in Mitzpe Ramon.

 

At this event HHD raised $700 towards the Defibrillator Project.

What these donations mean:

Mitzpe Ramon is in dire need of basic medical equipment, including an essential cardiac defibrillator for their public pool. This event contributed largely to the $2000 cost of a defibrillator for Mitzpe Ramon.

Direct Relief Women

International Women's Day Packing Event

Helping Hands Designs participated in this packing event at Direct Relief's headquarters. HHD had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jessica Grossman, CEO of Medicines360.

​

HHD helped assemble 2,000 Dignity Kits for women in Latin America, Africa, and South Asia awaiting obstetric fistula surgery. These kits include daily essentials that many women in less-developed countries to not have direct access to, including as towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and antibacterial soaps. This was double the number of kits as last year's event and was a great opportunity to help show support for women around the world.

CALM At Heart

Helping Hands Designs sold CALM necklaces at the CALM's annual "CALM At Heart" Event at the Coral Casino Santa Barbara to help end the harmful cycle of child abuse. CALM promoted  ways to help children build resilience: mindfulness, healthy sleep, exercise, mental health, healthy relationships, and nutrition, as well as highlight the dangerous ACEs: abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction.

At this event HHD raised $775 for CALM.

What these donations mean:

$500 provides the enrollment for one adult in a 10-week parenting class.

$250 grants child abuse prevention classes for one school.

$100 provides one hour of therapy for a child.

$50 supports two group sessions for mothers with PPD.
